VIRABHADRASANA II | Warrior 2

Crazy to think I used to drop into Warrior 2 no problem. I took this picture in April, less than a month before my whole world changed...After a long Monday at work on 5/9/22, I decided to go skateboarding & ended up breaking my right femur. I couldn't walk without a walker "granny sled" or cane for weeks, or even function without wearing my brace 24/7.

Now, I'm finally at the point where I can walk somewhat regularly again. And that's after 3 months of PT 2-3x a week. The surgeon said it would take a full year for my nerve endings to repair & for me to feel like myself again on my mat. That was a tough pill to swallow...but here I am. Showing up to the best of my ability, and reminding myself that I AM ENOUGH.

I said it during teacher training & I'll say it again: I used to be a worrier, but now I'm a warrior.

Constantly reminding myself that everything happens FOR me, not TO me. This injury has felt like a set back both personally, in regard to my mental health & movement a my outlet, as well as professionally (the day before I broke my leg, I got the email that I landed my first yoga studio job). Post injury, I've decided that every single thing thrown my way is there for a reason, and I can either choose to look at it as an obstacle OR an opportunity to level up.

As a teacher, I've grown so much post injury. I am so much more empathetic towards students who insist that they can't go further in a pose, especially as someone who now struggles to get my butt down in Child's Pose.

Recently, I heard that "When you pray for patience, you don't get patience, you get a line at the bank" and essentially what that means is that good things take time & it won't come easily & the universe will test you to see if you can level up and handle whatever it is that you're asking for. I came to the realization that whatever you desire, will come to you, but with the caveat of: it's gonna be tested.
